What are Tear Troughs?
Tear troughs / under eye bags / tired eyes / dark eye circles are caused by a variety of genetic and environmental factors. As we age the boney orbit actually widens in diameter. Add to this weakening and stretching of the tear trough ligament, loss of the cheek fat pads and loss of skin elastic and collagen fibres and you get the typical eye bags and dark circles, which can lead to a more tired look.
Combining treatment of both the under eye bags and enhancing cheek volume and position ensures the very best synergistic, natural re-vitalised result. EdenMed Aesthetics and Rejuvenation offer tear trough filler correction at our clinics in Chelsea and Bournemouth.
What fillers are used?
At EdenMed Aesthetics we use a combination of hyalurinic acid fillers. Typically for tear trough correction this is a filler with low G'1 meaning that the filler has less elasticity and spreads more readily to shape a smooth sheet giving a better transition zone to the lower eyelid and front part of the cheek.
Is it safe?
Dr. Sam uses a microcannula to sculpt when performing tear trough correction. This greatly enhances the safety of the procedure and greatly reduces the risks. The microcannula technique is an advanced non surgical technique that Dr. Sam has mastered after years of ophthalmic and oculoplastic surgery, where use of the microcannula is common place. Unlike the standard needle technique, used by many non-surgically trained practitioners, the microcannula is significantly less likely to result in serious brusing.
What's the down time?
Generally speaking there is no down time with tear trough correction and you will see results immediately after treatment. Final results will be about 6 weeks later. You can resume normal activities just a couple of hours after treatment. It is common for there to be some puffiness after the treatment, this normally resolves completely in a few weeks if it does occur.
