Botulinum Toxin

About our Botulinum Toxin treatments

This is the number one cosmetic treatment used for movement associated skin lines and wrinkles. The treatment works by relaxing the underlying muscles that contribute to skin creasing through repetitive contractions. These repetitive movements in combination with changes in skin collagen and elastin levels, develop lines and wrinkles, which are the result of normal facial expression. Botox and other branded botulinums can work to reduce those lines around the face we would like to hold back.

It is most commonly used for horizontal forehead lines, frown lines between the eyebrows and crow's feet around the eyes, although lower parts of the face around the lips and chin can also be treated. Each area of treatment is classified as one area for pricing purposes.

Over the past fifteen years botulinums have been used very successfully in a large number of medical conditions, from cerebral palsy in children as young as two years of age, spasticity of stroke and MS patients, migraine sufferers, bladder problems, excessive sweating and in facial rejuvenation. In my own NHS practice, I have extensive experience in the use of Botox for the treatment of blepharospasm, hemifacial spasm, strabismus (squint) and ptosis induction (droopy lids).

The procedure is very simple, following a full, no obligation and free consultation, wrinkle relaxation injections treat the targeted individual groups of muscle fibres around the face. There is very minimal pain so no local anaesthetic is required. Unlike most practitioners I adopt an alternative injection technique that greatly reduces the risk of bleeding and bruising compared to many other practitioners.

It is highly recommended that the wrinkle relaxation injections are performed by a skilled, qualified practitioner with extensive knowledge of facial anatomy, physiology and the interaction of facial elevators and depressors. Your face is the most important outward feature of your inner self. Therefore, at Edenmed Aesthetics you will have time dedicated to discussion, review, assessment and planning of your individual requirements.
