Why should I consider lip fillers?
Reasons such as style, fashion, asymmetry and thinning are all valid reasons for considering lip augmentaion with fillers. Hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane, Belotero, Princess / Saypha can help you achieve the look you want. Whether it's to plump the lips to make them more feminine or to treat fine lines and volume loss, at EdenMed Aesthetics and Rejuvenation we tailor the bespoke treatment to your needs.
Is the procedure safe?
As with all medical cosmetic treatments there are risks, but Dr. Sam has over 25 years of medical and facial surgery experience to fall back on, including Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and extensive skin surgery and medical use of Botox as well as facial and dermal fillers. For your maximum comfort and safety we predominantly use pioneering gentle microcannula scuplting techniques for the perfect lip shape. EdenMed Aesthetics offer enhanced follow up services and is always on hand to answer any questions you may have. So you can be sure you are in very safe hands.
Do lip fillers hurt?
We use 4 methods to enhance your comfort to the absolute maximum possible. Firstly, EdenMed Aesthetics founder Dr. Sam Ghazawy, is a strong believer and practitioner of Yoga breathing styles. Through deep breathing in a calm environment, clients are able to feel immediately at ease. Secondly, you will have numbing cream (providing there is no history of allergy) applied to the lips. These leave the lips feeling tingly and numb. Thirdly, all of the injectable hyaluronic acid lip fillers contain lidocaine, the same numbing agent used in dentistry, for example. This will cause the lips to become more numb and comfortable as the lip filler is deposited. And lastly, Dr. Sam uses a cutty-dege pioneering microcannula technique for sculpting lips with hyaluronic acid filler. This is very much more gentle than the traditional needle technique and indeed many clients comment on how comfortable it is.
Do I need to do anything before my appointment?
No specific pre-appointment preparation is needed, but we recommend you avoid anything that can cause blood thinning, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil and vitamin E. If you are on specific medications for health reasons, you may still be able to have lip filler treatment, but this should be discussed with Dr. Sam in advance. DO NOT stop medication that has been prescribed by your doctor.
Do I need to do anything after the treatment?
You should be careful to avoid hot food and drink for a few hours after the lip filler treatment as the lips will be numb from the anaesthetic. Cold or warm compresses can be gently applied, but avoid any vigorous massage. Swelling is usually due to filler drawing in water and this can look somewhat asymmetrical to begin with. This settles usually over a few days. Any questions afterwards, just contact the clinic, we're always on hand to help.
How long do the lip fillers last for?
Typically anywhere between 6 and 12 months is normal.
At EdenMed Aesthetics we use a range of Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers, such as Juvederm, Restylane , Princess / Saypha and Belotero. HA is a naturally occurring substance found in many body structures including skin and joints. HA fillers come from a number of manufacturers, the techniques of manufacture varying to give different properties and optimal uses.
Lip filler enhancement is rapidly approaching Botox and Azzulre antiwrinkle treatment as one of the most common facial rejuvenation treatments opted for. When used in the correct anatomical position and in the correct proportions, HA fillers can be used to enhance and augment as well as rejuvenate and volumise. Over time HA becomes absorbed and one with the skin resulting in highly natural and pleasing results. Treatments will need to be maintained every 6 to 12 months for the best long term effects.
Dr. Sam uses an almost exclusive microcannula approach, for enhanced comfort and better safety. After numbing the lips a small port is created in the skin and a microcannula passed gently through the subcutaneous tissues to carefully sculpt the lips into the best shape possible.
As with Botox use, having a practitioner with extensive knowledge and experience of facial anatomy and function is vital in getting the very best result. Everyone’s face is different and responds differently to the process, therefore, EdenMed Aesthetics prides itself on taking time to discuss, plan and administer treatment with the very highest quality standards from a qualified, surgically trained and General Medical Council (GMC ) registered doctor.
