Obagi Blue Peel Radiance

Why Consider a Skin Peel?

Obagi Blue Peel Radiance...

...offers an additional element to your overall skin care treatment range. If you are concerned about uneven skin tone, fine lines or other early signs of skin aging then having a chemical peel might be worth considering, either alone of as part of a package of treatment. The Obagi Blue Peel Radiance offered at EdenMed Skin Care clinics in Chelsea and Bournemouth are a great way of treating the eidermal layer of the skin.

How do skin peels work?

There are many different types of skin peel, designed to work to different depths, affecting the skin cycle. One of the essential features of aging skin is a prolonged skin cycle. A youthful cycle, where new skin cells are made and old skin cells lost, typically takes 6 weeks. However, in older skin this can be significanty slowed down and result in thicker, duller looking skin. Combine that with lines and wrinkles from collagen loss and some of the oher features of aging skin as discussed in our Asthetics and Rejuvenation pages and you get the typical changes that we all recognise. The Obagi Blue Peel Radiance targets the dead skin cells on the surface, exfoliating them and stimulating active regrowth of new, fresher looking skin.

How many treatments are needed?

Even with one treatment you will most likely see benefit. For the best treatment results, 3- 6 cycles every 2-4 weeks is recommended.

Do I need to do anything before having a skin peel?

Ideally you should not use any skin products for at least 3 days before treatment. Do not have any facial treatments, such as micro dermabrasion, laser resufacing, or any other skin activating or exfoliating treatment for at lest 2 weeks beforehand.

Are there any risks or contraindications?

This is not an exhaustive list, but risks include, tingling and heat sensation during the peel, skin blanching, allergic reaction and post treatment inflammation and hyperpigmentation. Generally speaking risks are very small and serious risks are less than 1%.

Contraindications include allergy to aspirin or salicylic acid, or any of the Blue Peel Radiance ingredients. If you are pregnant or breast feeding, or under the age of 18, you should not have a chemical skin peel.

What should I do after the treatment?

After your Obagi Blue Peel treatment you can expect som flaking of the skin at about day 3-5. You will be supplied with a hydrating lotion and sunprotection which you should apply every 2 hours, whatever the weather for at leat 2 weeks. Avoid any abrasive scrubs of exfoliating treatments until your skkin has had change to rejuvenate.
