Sciton BBL: What happens to the skin as we age and where does the Sciton BBL skin laser come in?
Here we're talking about Sciton BBL, BroadBand Light (not Brazilian Bum Lift - see the treatments page for that).
Even before we start showing external signs of aging, our skin undergoes internal, invisible changes. Ultimately, resulting in poorer quality. Issues like losing collagen lead to sagginess and wrinkles. The pigmentation may change, leading to dark spots and malasma. And redness and inflammation from sun exposure may be evident.
Annie Dollar is EdenMed's nutrition, skin care and Sciton BBL expert and will be happy to help you take a holistic approach to your skin care regime. Follow her approach to health and wellbeing on Instagram @annie_of_edenmed.
What's our ethos and how does Sciton BBL fit in?
In medicine, we often talk about "prevention" being better than "cure". In other words, why wait until the changes have progressed so far that your skin shows the effects before you try to correct it? What if there were a quick, relatively easy, low risk way to induce collagen even before the signs of its loss? Research has shown that even by our mid twenties, we are starting to lose significant amounts of collagen from our skin, even though it's not visible to the naked eye yet.
And what if you're older and the outward signs of life have already taken hold. Well now we can reverse many of those unwanted signs on the skin using the very latest laser technology from Sciton. I have spent two years researching this technology and the very best machine in the world is now available at EdenMed Aesthetics. So, you can be one of the first people in the UK to experience this amazing system. I can personally vouch for it. Check out my video on Instagram @dr_sam_ghazawy and on Facebook.
Well, now there is a quick, easy, low risk way to induce collagen, treat redness, and reduce brown spots with Sciton BBL.
In fact, there are several ways to induce collagen formation, from platelet rich plasma (one of Dr. Sam's best loved treatments) to PDO thread tightening, dermal filler, and of course, plasma / fibroblast eyelid tightening. Where the Sciton Intense Pulsed Light laser comes in is with its incredible versatility. Until now, there were limited ways to treat conditions such as acne, scarring, rosacea and malasma (the uneven brown age spots). EdenMed's Sciton skin laser treats all of these and more...
...and not just on the face. We can treat your whole body.
Does Sciton BBL hurt?
Your comfort is very important to us. At all stages, we will check that you are comfortable. It can feel a little hot and to help with that, we use the same thermoregulating properties of Sapphire crystal in the laser application that's used in Rolex watches. It's truly luxurious.
Is Sciton BBL safe?
All cosmetic procedures carry a small risk. Overall, because we're using natural light energy, photons at specific wavelengths, it is one of the very safest procedures available, and certainly much less risky than surgery. It basically stimulates your own body's repair mechanisms to induce collagen and reduce chronic skin inflammatory reactions, such as those in acne, rosacea and folliculitis. We have to be careful, though. BBL will permanently reduce hair growth. If you're male we need to avoid your beard area. Tap on Alice Hart-Davis for an 'independent' opinion Sciton BBL.
Both Annie and Dr. Sam have undergone hours of extensive training in BBL.
