Sciton BBL: What Not To Do Afterwards
What Can You Not Do After BBL Laser? – EdenMed Clinic
BroadBand Light (BBL) laser treatments are an excellent way to rejuvenate your skin, addressing issues like sun damage, pigmentation, acne, and signs of aging. However, to maximise the benefits and ensure a smooth recovery, it's crucial to follow post-treatment care guidelines. At EdenMed Clinic, we want to ensure you have the best experience and results from your BBL laser treatment. Here are some things you should avoid after your BBL session.
1. Avoid Direct Sun Exposure
Post-treatment, your skin will be more sensitive to UV rays. It’s essential to avoid direct sun exposure for at least a week following your BBL treatment.Make sure you apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30, wear a wide-brimmed hat, and use protective clothing to shield your skin.
2. Do Not Use Harsh Skincare Products
Your skin needs time to settle after a BBL treatment. Avoid using harsh skincare products, including retinoids, alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), beta hydroxy acids (BHAs), and exfoliants for at least one week. These products can irritate your sensitive skin. Stick to gentle cleansers and moisturisers.
3. Refrain from Hot Baths and Saunas
Hot environments, such as hot baths, saunas, steam rooms, and jacuzzis, should be avoided for at least 48 hours post-treatment. High temperatures can exacerbate redness, swelling, and discomfort.
4. Do Not Pick or Scratch the Treated Area
It’s common to experience some redness, swelling, or even a mild sunburn-like sensation after a BBL treatment. You might also notice some dark spots flaking off as your skin heals. It is vital not to pick, scratch, or peel these areas, as doing so can lead to scarring or infection. Allow your skin to heal naturally.
5. Avoid Intense Physical Activity
While light exercise is generally acceptable, avoid intense physical activities that cause excessive sweating or increase blood flow to the treated areas for at least 24-48 hours. Strenuous exercise can increase inflammation and discomfort during the initial healing phase.
6. Skip the Makeup for a Day
To let your skin breathe and recover, it’s advisable to avoid applying makeup for at least 24 hours after your BBL treatment. If you must use makeup, opt for mineral-based products that are gentle on your skin.
7. No Swimming in Chlorinated Pools
Chlorinated water can be harsh on your freshly treated skin. Avoid swimming in chlorinated pools or soaking in hot tubs for at least a week to prevent irritation and potential complications.
8. Hold Off on Other Skin Treatments
Refrain from undergoing other skin treatments, such as chemical peels, microdermabrasion, or other laser procedures, until your skin has fully recovered from the BBL treatment. Consult with Annie or I to determine the appropriate time for any additional treatments.
Your skin's health and appearance are our top priority at EdenMed Clinic.
